Stowe Emergency Management requested the team to stand by at the station during heavy flooding activity. Several areas of town were isolated due to high water. No missions were needed and the team was released as water levels receded to allow access to previously isolated neighborhoods.
April 15-16, 2011
Assisted Colchester Technical Rescue w/a search for a missing 26 year old male who was presumed drowned in a boating accident in Milton VT on Tuesday April 12. The subject was boating on Lake Arrowhead, when their motor lost power. The boat was pulled toward the dam and they were without paddles. One subject was pulled from the boat when it was wedged against the dam by Milton PD, but the second subject went thru the dam. Boat based search operation with no success.

A 55 year old female who was snowshoeing on Mt. Mansfield called 911 reporting shortness of breath. She was with several other hikers at Taft Lodge. SMR members responded from the Cliff House at the top of the Gondola and also up the Long Trail. The subject was determined to be stable and was accompanied down the Long Trail to the Chin Clip ski trail where Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol gave her a sled ride down the mountain.

SMR was notified (but not requested to respond) to a report of an injured skier on the Teardrop Trail on the Underhill side of Mt. Mansfield. Burdick (responding with CTR) responded to the scene, and Van Dyke assisted by phone with logistics for the evacuation.

SMR was notifed by Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol of a subject with a head injury on the backcountry "Hellbrook Trail" approximately 500 yards above the Notch Road (route 108 - closed in winter). Van Dyke was at the ski area at the time of the call, and requested a snowmobile ride up the Notch Road to the bottom of Hellbrook from ski area personnel. On the way in the subject was observed walking out with his companions. The subject was accompanied to the ski area where he was evaluated by Stowe Rescue.
