Waterbury Backcountry Rescue requested assistance with a 59 year old female patient with a left ankle injury on Camels Hump. The patient was reported to be on the Long Trail north of Wind Gap and South of the Alpine Trail.

Several team members located, evaluated and treated the patient.  Another team brought in the litter, vacuum mattress and sleeping bag. Two additional teams provided manpower for litter carry.  The patient was located on the Long Trail and the ankle injury evaluated and immobilized.  The patient was loaded into the litter and evacuated south on the Long Trail, down the Dean and Monroe Trails. Negotiating the ledges thru Wind Gap required several low angle lowering systems.  The patient was transported by family members to the hospital.
