A 22 year old woman left the Waterbury trail head at 4 PM to hike the summit of Hunger. She was reported overdue by her friends. Vermont State Police deployed 2 team members from Waterbury Backcountry Rescue up the Waterbury Trail at 1:30 AM to retrace the hikers itinerary.  Stowe Mountain Rescue deployed two additional hasty teams to search the White Rocks Loop and the Middlesex trail on the west side of Hunger Mountain.

She was located at 3:39 AM on North Bear Swamp Road in Middlesex. She had became disoriented above treeline in dense cloud cover and descended the wrong (west) side of Hunger. She was cold and hungry, but otherwise fine. She was transported back to the Waterbury staging area and evaluated and released by Waterbury Ambulance.
