A man missing for several days from Connecticut was thought to be in the Stowe area when his vehicle was located at the end of the road at Smuggler's Notch. He was an experienced hiker and camper, but his family did not know where he was and he was being sought by law enforcement officials in Connecticut. Stowe Mountain Rescue was asked to assist Stowe Police in attempting to locate the subject.  Several teams were put into the field, and he was located at Taft Lodge on the Long Trail just below the summit of Mt. Mansfield by a hasty team consisting of members of SMR and the Vermont State Police SAR team at approximately 3am. Due to concerns for his health, he was assisted down the trail to a waiting snowcat provided by Stowe Mountain Resort and then taken to Stowe Rescue for evaluation and transport to the hospital.
