A female subject called 911 to report that she was with a companion at the junction of the Hellbrook Trail and the Cutoff, and had fallen and suffered a dislocated shoulder and was unable to continue. Due to the distance from the trailhead and the technical difficulty of the trail, additional resources were immediately called in. A hasty team was sent in to do an assessment, while plans were put in place to follow with a litter. Easiest access was determined to be to drive up the ski area access road to the Cliff House, across to Taft Lodge, then the Cutoff from Taft to Hellbrook Trail. Fortunately, with texted directions from her brother (an MD), the subject was able to self-reduce the dislocation before the team arrived on scene, and was directed to take the Cutoff toward Taft where she was met by the hasty team and assisted out of the woods.
