SMR was notified (but not requested to respond) to a report of an injured skier on the Teardrop Trail on the Underhill side of Mt. Mansfield. Burdick (responding with CTR) responded to the scene, and Van Dyke assisted by phone with logistics for the evacuation.

SMR was notifed by Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol of a subject with a head injury on the backcountry "Hellbrook Trail" approximately 500 yards above the Notch Road (route 108 - closed in winter). Van Dyke was at the ski area at the time of the call, and requested a snowmobile ride up the Notch Road to the bottom of Hellbrook from ski area personnel. On the way in the subject was observed walking out with his companions. The subject was accompanied to the ski area where he was evaluated by Stowe Rescue.

Van Dyke was called by Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol requesting assistance with a lost skier. They had cell phone contact and subject described a trail marker that was known to be on "John's Road" in Ranch Valley. Van Dyke called the subject back and gave directions to Mt. Mansfield Touring Center. Due to recent deep snows the touring center trails had not been groomed, so Speer was sent out on snowmachine and snowshoes to meet the subject and give him a ride out of the woods.

Waterbury Backcountry Rescue requested assistance with a snowmobiler stuck in a field with rising floodwaters approximately waist deep. WBR/SMR member Burdick responded to the scene and was able to assist the subject to safety before our arrival.

Male subject struck a tree while on a snowmobile just off the Cotton Brook Trail and was thrown 10’ and complained of multiple injuries. The patient was immobilized with a vacuum mattress & stokes litter and evacuated with rescue toboggan & snow mobile to Stowe Rescue ambulance for transport.
