October 24, 2011 A female subject called 911 saying she was on here way down from Sterling Pond and had lost the trail and it was now dark. She described that she could see traffic in the Notch road below her, but could not get to the road due to darkness and the terrain. Subject was told by phone to stay where they were and Speer hiked up (less than 5 minutes from road) and escorted the subject out of the woods. Carrying a flashlight or headlamp would have made a response unnecessary.
