Stowe Mountain Rescue wins MRA "Outstanding Team" Award

At the annual meeting of the Mountain Rescue Association on June 30, 2001, Stowe Mountain Rescue was given an award for "Outstanding Team (as nominated by State SAR Coordinator)"

The team was nominated by Capt. James Baker, Assist Field Force Commander and Special Teams Leader, Vermont State Police.

In his nomination, Capt. Baker felt the team was deserving for the following reasons:

  1. They are an all volunteer organization.
  2. The team has an outstanding reputation as a professional and disciplined organization.
  3. They train at a very high level.
  4. The cooperation provided extends beyond the geographic area of responsibility.
  5. The team has made countless rescues of subjects in the past ten years.

He also said "the Stowe team is particularly efficient in two areas: the skills to do technical rescues ... and the area of search management discipline."
